Zorgvliet Vineyard Lodge & Spa in Stellenbosch now offering fractional ownership

The Zorgvliet Group is a family enterprise headed up by CEO Mac van der Merwe, and was initiated in 2002 with the purchase of Zorgvliet Wine Estate in the Banghoek Valley, in the heart of the Cape Winelands near Stellenbosch. This historic farm with its stately manor (now completely restored to a restaurant), award-winning wines and five-star Vineyard Lodge & Spa, dates back to 1692. Zorgvliet Wine Estate pioneered the concept of vineyard holidays with invitations to wine estate activities not normally available to visitors and an ‘open-cellar’ policy even during harvesting season. Development of Zorgvliet Vineyard Lodge & Spa allowed visitors to experience living on a working wine farm. Now the Zorgvliet Private Residence Club is offering the luxury master rooms on fractional ownership.

Says Van der Merwe: “A limited number of 3 weeks per year options are available.

This is a perpetual share acquisition of a unique aspirational lifestyle. The Zorgvliet Vineyard Lodge offers six master bedrooms, a lounge, dining area and pool. Further fractional options exist at the family-orientated Alluvia guest houses. At Alluvia there are two self- catering units as well as five additional five-star lodging rooms on offer. Backed by  Zorgvliet’s hospitality arm, these fully serviced rooms are a home from home second to none.” Prices are from R300 000 for 28 days per year, excluding any tax payable.

Zorgvliet Wine Estate boasts a wide range of amenities, from the new extended Zorgvliet Spa to the 1692 Herenhuis restaurant, a picnic site, fly fishing and a PGA standard chip and putt facility. Van der Merwe says that this all combines to make vacation ownership on Zorgvliet and Alluvia a unique investment. “Surrounded by mountains, overlooking vineyards, steeped in history, with the feel of the slow pulse of the Winelands and luxurious leisure facilities – everything is geared towards enhancing your experience.”

It was the natural beauty that convinced early European settlers to name the farm Zorgvliet - after a beautiful farm in The Hague - in 1685. “It is one of the oldest wine farm names in the country. Due to the natural beauty and exclusive lifestyle, real estate in the Banhoek Valley comes at a very high premium. The Valley is only 10 minutes from historical Stellenbosch - yet a world away. Our new fractional option makes becoming part of this exclusive lifestyle and wine fraternity available to a lucky few investors.”

Members of Zorgvliet Private Residence Club can also exchange their vacation weeks for holidays at more than 120 global destinations. “Exchange is seamless and offers shareholders a financial hedge against future international holiday experiences. They can buy now at today’s prices and exchange later for a stay in top-flight international resorts.”

A number of other exclusive, five-star options are to be launched by the Zorgvliet Private Residence Club soon, each supporting the Zorgvliet Group’s vision of becoming a South African brand with an elite local and international following.
